Barn Damaged in Fire Near Granville

Granville, Iowa — A barn was damaged by a fire near Granville on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

According to Granville Fire Chief Karl Kellen, around 4:20 p.m., the Granville Fire Department was called to a report of a smoldering barn at 4621 Nettle Boulevard, four miles east of Granville.

The chief said the fire department saw flames near the old barn as they approached the scene. He said they started by spraying water on the outside of the building and then did some maintenance on the interior.

Kellen said no injuries were reported.

The fire department was assisted by the Paullina and Hospers fire departments and the Granville Ambulance Service.

It was understood that the cause of the fire was electrical.

Chief Kellen reported minor damage to property.

He said fire crews were at the scene for about 1.5 hours.
