The Lowell firefighter and father of three has been called “the true definition of a hero.”

Nathan Martinez, 38, died at his home on Nov. 3, according to his obituary.

He was born in Concord and dreamed of becoming a firefighter. After high school, he joined the army and served two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
