Cardiff City’s interim boss Ömer Rıza said that top scorer Callum Robinson is struggling with the ongoing Achilles problem.

Robinson scored 5 goals in 12 games for the Bluebirds this season.

But the Republic of Ireland international was pulled off the field in the final 20 minutes as Cardiff suffered their first defeat in seven league games at Luton Town on Tuesday.

Bluebirds interim boss Riza said: “Callum is currently carrying a chronic Achilles strain and it’s putting a strain on him.”

“We probably could have taken it all the way but for me it was about getting a little more intensity up top to change it up and freshen it up.

“I think towards the end of the game Luton were in their half but we couldn’t do enough to get creative and score goals.”

Riza says Alex Robertson will be available for Saturday’s home game against Blackburn Rovers after the midfielder missed the trip to Luton and last weekend’s win over Norwich City with a hamstring problem.

Rıza added, “He overcame the injury well.” “Hopefully he will be training on Saturday and ready to go.”
