Kaziimba praises Madhvani Group for support

Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu lauded Madhvani Group of Companies for its continuous support to religious organizations in the country and its contribution to projects aimed at social economic transformation of communities.

“I have come to personally express my gratitude to Kakira Sugar Limited and Madhvani Group of Companies for their tremendous contribution to the activities of various religious institutions in the country,” Archbishop Mugalu said.

The Archbishop made these comments on Tuesday during his visit to Kakira Sugar Limited, where he was received by joint Managing Directors Mayur Madhvani and Kamlesh Madhvani.

Escorted to Kakira by other officials of the Church of Uganda, including Rev. Moses Mugalu, Rev. Johnson Kansime, Mr. Adam Sadiki and Godwin Atukwatirire, the bishop toured the factory and observed some of the processes involved in the manufacturing of sugar and other by-products there. products .

Archbishop Kaziimba stated that the Madhvani Group aims for the welfare of the communities in which they operate by regularly making planned donations to churches, orphanages, baby homes and homes for the poor in Busoga Sub-Region and other parts of the country.

The group often donates building materials, foodstuffs, soap, candy, diapers and toys, among others.

Mr. Mayur Madhvani said: “For the Madhvani Group, corporate social responsibility activities are not just about one-off donations. “They are a way to give back in a sustainable way to the communities we serve, work and live.”

Muljibhai partnered with the Protectorate Government to create the General Scholarship Scheme foundation, which will sponsor bright children in secondary school. The foundation was renamed Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation in 1962, but closed after Idi Amin deported Asians and British protectees. The program was revived in 2003. The foundation currently offers approximately Shs750 million in university scholarships every year.
