BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The Yemassee Police Department is working with Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center staff to locate 40 escaped primates.

Beaufort County deputies confirmed in a statement send to x He said the primates escaped from the research center on Castle Hall Road in Yemassee Wednesday evening.

Yemassee Police set traps in the area using thermal imaging cameras to locate the animals.

To prevent primates from entering homes, residents are advised to keep all doors and windows secure.

If someone locates one of the escaped primates, authorities urge people not to interact with them and instead call 911 immediately.
