Former Michelin Guide-listed Armenian restaurant Lusin in London’s Mayfair is understood to have closed after being accused of employing illegal workers.

London Standard Following the Home Office raid, Lusin’s owners were fined £60,000.

Lusin opened in November 2022 and is claimed to be London’s first Armenian restaurant.

A variety of fine dishes created by Madame Anahid Doniguian, author of the Armenian cookbook, were served. Yepelou Arvesteincluding sausage rolls (£18), ravioli (£29) and the centuries-old recipe Armenian gapama (£36).

The menu, curated by chef Marcel Ravin of the two-Michelin-starred Blue Bay Marvel Ravin in Monaco, included desserts such as Lusin ice cream and honey cake, priced at £16.

caterer understands that immigration enforcement officers carried out an intelligence-led visit to Lusin in September last year, which resulted in the arrest of four men for operating illegally, who were later released on bail with reporting restrictions.

Lusin branding, including an illuminated menu, remains on the property, along with signs reading “This property is monitored by live security guards 24/7.”

A Home Office spokesman said: “We are determined to restrict both illegal work and the exploitative treatment of illegal workers.

“Vulnerable individuals may find themselves trapped in unsafe and unsafe conditions, facing exploitation and even modern-day slavery, often facilitated by organized crime gangs.”

Lusin is owned by Saudi Arabian company Mira Foods, which also operates brands such as Scaramouche in Riyadh.
