EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) – A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on an El Cajon street Tuesday evening and later died at the hospital from his injuries, according to police.

El Cajon Police officials said the fatal collision was reported in the 800 block of South Magnolia Avenue just after 5:15 p.m.

Police teams arriving at the scene found a 66-year-old man unconscious on the street. He was taken to an area hospital but died upon arrival.

“The identity of the 66-year-old man is known, but his name is being kept secret until his family is notified,” police said.

The driver of the 2018 black Ford Fusion that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, according to police.

“At this point in the investigation, alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the collision,” police said.
