Participate in the Gladiators micro:bit contest

Hello everyone, my name is Mwaksy and I’m here to tell you how to enter the incredible Gladiators micro:bit competition.

Are the students ready? Micro:bits, are you ready?

This competition challenges children aged 7-11 from primary schools across the UK to design a fantastic new device featuring the BBC micro:bit.

We ask students to design and draw a new fitness device that can help Gladiators like Phantom and Dynamite improve their performance.

Participation in the competition is made through the BBC Teach website. Please be sure to read the terms and conditions closely before submitting your application!

You will be directed to a form similar to this one where you can add information about your design and school. It is really important that a teacher fills out this form, not students!

Complete the form by entering your name, contact email address, school name, and school zip code.

You can then enter the name of your gadget and upload a picture of the design. This can be hand drawn or digitally designed and uploaded as JPEG, PNG or PDF.

We can only accept one image per entry, but you are welcome to show different views of your design. For example: side view, top-down view. However, they must be for the same device and in a single file.

You then have space to write a little about your design. What does it do? What is it made of? How does it work? Why did you make these choices?

It doesn’t need to be long, 100 to 300 words.

There are a few checkboxes to go through next.

Verify the age of your students.

Confirm that the BBC can use the images and text you submit.

If you haven’t already, read the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement and then accept them as well.

Finally, you can sign up to the BBC Teach newsletter to stay informed about future initiatives.

Click submit and you’re done!

Participation in the competition will end at noon on December 6, 2024. A school can make a total of 3 different applications, but no more applications can be made. And all children participating must be between the ages of 7-11 on the day registration closes.

Need inspiration? Then check out the BBC micro:bit website for tips, guides and tutorials on how to use this ingenious device.
