Louisville Cardinals They lost 52-45 at home against the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday. Louisville faces an explosive Boston College Eagles offense with one of the best defenses in the ACC.

Boston College has lost by more than seven points only twice this season. Why? Boston College’s big-play offense has 40 explosive plays for 1,195 yards and an interception unit that allows an ACC-fourth-best 20 points.

Boston College O-Unit scores 26 points per game. Explosive plays account for 48% of the Eagles’ offense, and they face a Cardinal defense that surrendered 31 plays of 20+ yards and 15 plays of 30 or more yards.

The Eagles’ defense is allowing a shade under 21 points and 351 yards per game. They are an opportunistic team that has thrown nine interceptions and allowed 21 points or fewer in the previous four contests.

Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough is the man behind the potent Cardinals offense. He threw for 18 points with three interceptions, but faces a defense that has surrendered the fourth-fewest passing yards (209) in the ACC this season when only six TD receptions have been allowed.

I like Boston College to cover this issue. Boston College’s defense can slow down the Cardinals’ high-scoring offense. The Eagles had two extra days to prepare, and Louisville will face a tough, physical upset Saturday against the Miami Hurricanes.

The home team won all of its last 7 matches. Although Boston College does not win this contest, the Eagles’ outstanding defense and great rushing attack, as well as two extra days of preparation, could help them close the gap.

Neither side relies heavily on the ground game, and both defenses are above average against the run. The respective defenses are probably better than the offenses, which should keep this under the total.
