Instead, the Mets became sellers at the deadline and 2024 was expected to be a rebuilding year. This didn’t turn out exactly as expected either.

After reaching the NLCS, Cohen and his front office could spend a significant amount of money this offseason and look to take it a step further and reach the World Series next year.

Adames, 29, spent his fourth season in Milwaukee this year on a one-year, $8.7 million contract. He hit .251/.331/.462 with 32 home runs and 112 RBIs.

While working in the Brewers’ front office, Stearns acquired Adames in a 2021 trade to the Tampa Bay Rays.
