The Indian music industry is mourning the loss of famous folk singer Sharda Sinha, also known as ‘Bihar Kokila’. He died on the night of 5^This November due to complications from cancer. He was 72 years old. After the news of his death emerged, many prominent people paid tribute to the iconic folk singer on social media. Manoj Bajpayee, Huma Kureshi, Pankaj Tripathi, Anurag Kashyap and many others expressed their sorrow through their posts on social media.

Huma Kureshi took to her Instagram account on Wednesday to thank Sharda Sinha for lending her beautiful voice in her show Maharani. Sharing the video of the song, Huma wrote, “Thank you @shardasinha_official ma’am for your beautiful voice and all the music. I can never thank you enough for the magic you bring to #Maharani Eternally Grateful.. RIP.. Om Shanti.”

Manoj Bajpayee shared a photo of the late singer and paid tribute to him. He wrote: “Farewell to Sharda Sinha ji, a true Bhojpuri and folk music legend whose voice celebrates the rich traditions of Bihar. From ‘Kahe Toh Se Sajna’ to the iconic Chhath Puja songs, his legacy will echo forever. Om Shanti. #ShardaSinha #BhojpuriLegend.”

Anurag Kashyap was heartbroken over Sharda Sinha’s death and shared a photo of her and wrote in Hindi: “Taar bijli se patle humaare piya.” This is a song sung by Sharda Sinha from Anurag’s movie Gangs Of Wasseypur 2. Meanwhile, Pankaj Tripathi bid farewell by posting the song ‘Pahile Pahil Chhathi Maiya’ on his Instagram story. Laapataa Ladies actor Ravi Kishan also expressed his sadness.

A few years ago, Sharda Sinha was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow. He was admitted to AIIMS Delhi and was undergoing treatment in the oncology department of the hospital since October 25. On Monday, his health deteriorated further and he was subsequently placed on a ventilator. On Wednesday night, his son Anshuman Sinha shared the heartbreaking news of his demise.

Sharda Sinha, one of Bihar’s most prominent singers, was famous for her work in Maithili, Bhojpuri and Magahi music. He had also sung in films such as Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Gangs of Wasseypur. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1991 and Padma Bhushan in 2018 for his contributions to music.
