The Emmy-winning journalist’s family announced his death on Tuesday, November 8; cause of death not publicly disclosed

Popular Los Angeles news anchor Chauncy Glover has passed away. He was 39 years old.

“We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncy’s beloved family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncy,” his family began their statement.

They went on to remember Glover as “more than a son and brother, a beacon of light in our lives and a true hero to his community.”

The cause of death was not made public as of Wednesday morning, November 6.

Glover, who shares the news desk with Pat Harvey for the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts and Suzie Suh at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., celebrated his one-year anniversary at the network last month.

Before Los Angeles, Glover, an Alabama native, was the first Black male anchor at Houston’s KTRK, where he was on the air for eight years, according to KCAL.

He won three Emmy Awards during his career and worked in Michigan, Florida, Georgia and Texas before moving to California. One of his proudest moments on camera was singing at Rosa Parks’ funeral in Montgomery, Ala., in 2005, his family said.

Glover started the Chauncy Glover Project, “a comprehensive, hands-on mentoring program created to transform young urban boys into honest and successful gentlemen.” website.

His family wrote that Glover, through his foundation, “changed countless lives and inspired many young men to pursue their dreams,” adding: “His talent, warmth, and vision left an imprint on everyone who knew him, and the world is darker without him.”

“As we grieve this profound loss, we are comforted by the outpouring of love and memories shared by those who knew Chauncy as a passionate, talented soul,” his loved ones concluded. “We ask for privacy as we mourn and honor his incredible legacy. He was taken from us too soon, but his impact will be felt forever.”
