Kharge calls Modi the ‘chief of liars’ and criticizes the BJP’s ‘plunder agenda’ in Jharkhand.

NEW DELHI: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP in an impassioned speech at an election rally in Mandu, Jharkhand. Kharge accused the ruling party of putting the interests of the rich ahead of the welfare of ordinary citizens and labeled Modi as ‘jhootho ke sardar’ (chief of liars).”
Highlighting the unfulfilled promises made by PM Modi, Kharge said: “PM Modi promised two crore jobs a year, Rs 15 lakh in every bank account, bringing back black money and doubling farmers’ income. None of these promises were kept.”
He also accused the BJP of copying the Congress’s welfare schemes, citing the example of Karnataka’s ‘Bhagya Lakshmi’ scheme, which provides Rs 2,000 to women. “Modi ji is repeating our plans everywhere because they do not have a road map of their own,” Kharge said.

Jharkhand’s rich resources are in danger
Kharge claimed that the BJP’s interest in Jharkhand was primarily driven by its desire to exploit its rich mineral resources. “BJP is eyeing Jharkhand’s ‘black gold’ (coal) and trying to plunder its mineral resources. Their aim is not the welfare of the people but to serve the interests of a few rich individuals.”
He accused the BJP of trying to remove the current tribal chief Hemant Soren and added: “No one dares to remove Hemant Soren. He will be the next chief minister of Jharkhand.”

Wealth inequality and governance
Kharge criticized the BJP for increasing wealth inequality, stating that 5 percent of the rich control 60 percent of the country’s wealth, while 50 percent of the poor own only 3 percent. He accused Modi of waiving Rs 16 lakh crore for the rich but failing to provide relief to the poor, farmers and Dalits.
Kharge demanded immediate clearance of coal debt of Rs 1.36 lakh crore to Jharkhand, stressing that this revenue could significantly help the development of the state.
Kharge criticizes Modi government for concentration of power
Kharge also accused Prime Minister Modi of centralizing power in a small circle in a recent statement touching on governance and constitutional rights.
Kharge said, “PM Modi does not see the good things that others have. He only sees two great people and Amit Shah. Nobody in the cabinet can speak. Only Prime Minister Modi can speak and Amit Shah will also speak. All powers are with him.” This comment highlighted concerns about the concentration of decision-making power within the Modi government.
Making a broader assessment of India’s democratic foundations, Kharge emphasized the important role of the Congress party in securing the rights of marginalized communities. “Few people forget the reservation or the constitutionally given rights given to SC, ST or OBC – credit in this regard goes to those who gave us freedom – Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Babasaheb Ambedkar,” he said.

With assembly elections scheduled to be held on November 13 and 20, Kharge urged voters to be vigilant against the tactics and false promises of the BJP and positioned the Congress as the true guardian of Jharkhand’s resources and prosperity. Vote counting will take place on November 23.
