ATLANTA – Atlanta police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Thursday morning on eastbound Interstate 20 near the Windsor Avenue exit. Police officers responded to the scene around 2:01 a.m. and confirmed the death of a male passenger at the scene of the crash.

According to the preliminary investigation, a black Hyundai Sonata was traveling eastbound on I-20 near the I-75/85 Expressway exit when the vehicle left the roadway. The car entered the grassy median between I-20 and the I-75/85 Freeway ramp, struck a light pole and guardrail, and rolled over multiple times. The vehicle eventually landed upside down on the Windsor Street ramp.

It was determined that a male passenger, who was thrown from the vehicle due to the impact, died at the scene. The driver and two other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Crash Investigation Unit is working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. The investigation continues.
