Liverpool’s two important players may miss Real Madrid’s visit in the Champions League if they receive a yellow card against Bayer Leverkusen.

The Reds host Xabi Alonso’s side at Anfield on Tuesday night and will be looking to continue their winning run in the tournament.

Arne Slot’s men edged out AC Milan, Bologna and RB Leipzig to sit second in the revamped Champions League table with nine points, the same points as leaders Aston Villa.

Liverpool will be without four first team players for the match, but the Dutch player will rely on Alexis Mac Allister and Ibrahima Konate for the match.

Both players received two yellow cards each in the match, meaning they are now one step away from receiving a suspension in the next match.

According to UEFA rules, players will be penalized after three yellow cards followed by an odd number of cautions that do not result in a red card.

Meanwhile, Slot has not confirmed whether Konate will start against Leverkusen after the France international suffered a painful ankle injury at the weekend.

“Yes, ready to play” Head coach Slot explained the defenseman to the media at a press conference on Monday afternoon.

“I also think he’s fully recovered, so it’s okay for him not to play because of what he has.

“Then it’s up to me to decide whether he plays or not. But he’s in a good place right now.”

However, Mac Allister is expected to start against Brighton, with Curtis Jones replacing him midway through the second half.
