AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 15-year-old Devayn Grissam.

Officials say He was shot on Helsinki Drive around 6.30pm on Wednesday.. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Ricky Antwacious Holmes, 19, was arrested Friday, according to jail records.

Arrest warrants state Holmes exchanged gunfire, striking Grissam in the torso and causing his death.

“He took a piece of me. Yeah, definitely. He took a piece of me, and I don’t know if I can heal from it, you know,” said Telisha Grissam, Devayn’s aunt.

Holmes is charged with murder, according to jail records.

Records show Holmes is being held in the Richmond County jail
