We are Mike Morsch, president of the Palm Desert Greens Republican Club, and Ralph Perry, president of the Palm Desert Greens Democratic Club. You may ask why these two write columns together. The answer is simple. We agree! Size G is best for Palm Desert, the community we both live in. Here’s why.

Here are the facts about Measure G and why we support it. One-cent sales tax that stays and benefits Palm Desert. like that Negative Go to Sacramento. Grocery shopping, medical visits, prescriptions and utilities are not affected. Visitors and tourists to Palm Desert pay most of our sales tax and account for 70% of all purchases in Palm Desert. Additionally, multiple checks and balances are in place to ensure the use of all funds. Measure G is expected to raise $25 million annually for utilities, safety and infrastructure. Our new sales rate will be equal to that of the other four Coachella Valley cities, but will still be below Palm Springs.

Many Measure G projects include:

• Fire Station 33 (Downtown Road) is slated for renovations and improvements.

• There are also plans to renovate and improve Fire Station 71 (Portola Street and Country Club Drive).

• Additional sheriff’s services will include deputies and support staff.

• We are also supporting the construction of a new Fire Station #102 north of Palm Desert on the north end of the CSU campus.

• We are excited about designing and building the North Palm Desert regional park.

• Additional storm drain and retention basin systems and improvements are another important factor, as well as the mitigation and control of hazardous conditions created by wind and sand.

• Additional public works personnel and equipment are included.

• Measure G will contribute to the design and construction of the new library in Civic Center Park. This will benefit all our citizens, especially our young and elderly.

• Improving public infrastructure and facilities across the city and replacing equipment are also vital needs.

Additionally, secure custody of Measure G funds includes a California law stating that all revenue expenditures must be publicly disclosed by the city. Palm Desert’s finance committee is comprised of volunteer community and business leaders. They review all city finances and all agendas and meetings are public and accessible online.

Supporters of Measure G include many Palm Desert residents, businesses and professional organizations.

As president of the Palm Desert Greens Republican Club, I realized this: Over weeks of numerous meetings and a tour of city facilities, we were able to see firsthand the vital need for Measure G. Individually, this will result in a very low cost. in great developments. Working together for the betterment of Palm Desert is an easy choice as shown; We both support Measure G and look forward to ensuring a better future. As leaders of our political clubs, we can and have found common ground in many past projects and we know the importance of open and honest dialogue.
