HOUSTON – ICE Houston said last month they removed more than two dozen child sex offenders who were in the country illegally.

According to ICE Houston, 25 people deported from the United States in October had been convicted of at least one child sex crime while they were in the country illegally.

Some of them had previously been deported, according to the agency. Two of them were documented to be gang members.

One of them was a Mexican national convicted of a child sex crime who was removed from the United States in 2020, re-entered the country illegally and then was convicted of a second sex crime involving minors in 2021, ICE Houston said.

“The 25 noncitizens that ERO Houston removed last month entered the country illegally and then began preying on the innocence and vulnerability of our children,” said Bret A. Bradford, ERO Houston Field Office Director. “One of the non-citizens we removed from the evidence was unconscionably convicted of a child sex crime and deported, then illegally re-entered the country and committed a second child sex crime. Our immigration officers live and raise families in this community and serve the residents of Southeast Texas.” “Last month’s results to personally protect our communities from harm and restore the integrity of our nation’s immigration system to capture and eliminate threats to public safety.”

ICE Houston did not disclose the names of those removed from the country, but shared the following details:

• The 37-year-old Mexican citizen, who was documented as a Paisas gang member and was deported twice, was removed on October 16. He had previous criminal convictions for committing indecent acts against a child under 14 and re-entering the country illegally.
• The 50-year-old Mexican citizen, who has been deported three times, was suspended Oct. 17 for sexual indecency with a child, cocaine trafficking, DWI (twice), assault, illegal carrying of a weapon and illegal reentry.
• A 44-year-old Mexican citizen, a documented Colonia Durango gang member, with documented prior criminal convictions for aggravated sexual assault of a minor, sexual indecency with a child, and burglary (two counts), was dismissed on October 18.
• The 37-year-old Mexican citizen, who was deported twice, was deported on October 16 after being convicted of sexual indecency with a child and sexual assault on a child.
• The 27-year-old citizen of El Salvador was suspended on October 2 with convictions for sexual assault on a child, resisting arrest and providing false information to law enforcement.
• The 58-year-old citizen of El Salvador, who was twice deported, was convicted on October 2 of aggravated sexual assault of a child and illegal re-entry.
• The 33-year-old Ecuadorian citizen, who was twice deported, was convicted on October 22 on charges of illegal surveillance/implantation of a viewing device for sexual arousal to harm a child under the age of 17 and illegal re-entry.
• A 20-year-old Guatemalan citizen was suspended on October 28 with a conviction for sexual immorality with a child under the age of 14.
• The 30-year-old Guatemalan national, who has been deported twice, was removed from the country on October 28 due to a conviction for incest with a child under 13 and illegal reentry.
• The 52-year-old El Salvador citizen, who has been deported twice, was expelled on Oct. 23 with convictions for indecent liberties with a child, DWI, assault on a government employee, assault and illegal reentry.
