According to eyewitnesses, the search continues in Catfish Bay for two people who went underwater on Sunday afternoon and never resurfaced.

Some good Samaritans pulled three swimmers out. The swimmers were taken to the hospital for control.

The 29-year-old man and the 4-year-old boy never appeared again. Both swimmers are believed to be from the Mathis or Sandia area, according to Ben Baker of Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens, the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Department, San Patricio County police officers, the Sandia Fire Department and State Park Police are searching for the couple.

By the way, Catfish Cove is currently closed.

“It’s a search and rescue effort at this point. It’s very windy and agencies are doing the best they can,” Baker said.
