Gavin Creel to be Honored at Public Memorial Celebration on Broadway

A public tribute was held for Broadway’s late star Gavin Creel.

Family and friends will attend the funeral on Monday, December 2, at 16:00 local time at St. George’s Church in New York City. The event will honor the Tony Award-winning actor at the St. James Theatre.

The names of the artists have not yet been announced, but the memorial service will be open to the public. Those who would like detailed information about the application are asked to email their name and contact information to [email protected].

In addition to the tribute, all Broadway theaters in New York City will turn off their lights at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, to honor Creel and the impact he had on the international theater community.

Creel was a famous songwriter, singer and stage actor known for his Broadway roles. Thoroughly Modern Millie, he loves me, Hello Dolly! And Hairamong others.

Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Colman Domingo In her social media post, she called Creel a “sweet guy” and added that the actor was “funny and kind.”

“We will all miss him,” Domingo wrote. “He made Broadway so bright. My heart aches for everyone who loved him. … Give him a standing ovation and throw roses. He did a good job.”
