IPL 2025 Mega Auction Likely to Held in Riyadh THIS DATE – Check Details | Cricket News

According to sources, the mega auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is expected to be held in Riyadh by the end of this month. All ten franchises have announced the list of retained players for IPL 2025; It turns out that this list is full of surprises and some expected decisions.

All eyes are now on the mega auction, with all teams holding on to players they think will form the basis of their success in the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.
According to sources, the IPL auction will be held in Riyadh and the dates are likely to be 24-25 November.

The retention lists of all ten teams for next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) season were finally announced last week, with several big guns including Jos Buttler, Aiden Markram, Glenn Maxwell, Faf Du Plessis, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas among others. Iyer and many others were allowed to participate in the auction by their respective franchises.

The teams retained a total of 46 players while investing a total of R558.5 billion. Of the total 46 players retained across all series, 36 are Indians. 10 of them are India’s star stars.

With the release of IPL-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rishabh Pant from Delhi Capitals (DC) and KL Rahul from Lucknow Super Giants, those looking for a new captaincy will be presented with three top-tier Indian captaincy options. captain on their side.

Remarkably, no England players were retained by the franchise this time around. Various star players were released including Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Harry Brook, Phil Salt and Will Jacks.

These players missed part of the season due to international commitments, while Harry Brook withdrew for personal reasons. England batsman Jason Roy withdrew from the IPL ahead of this season citing personal reasons. These developments have at times damaged team balance and many teams have become dependent on talent from abroad.

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have relied on the Indian core of skipper Hardik Pandya, former skipper Rohit Sharma, pacer Jasprit Bumrah, 360-degree hitter Suryakumar Yadav and young left-hander Tilak Varma.

Youngster Ishan Kishan was expected to be able to retain his place given his youth and experience in the team, but this did not pan out as many thought. This retention strategy allows MI to maintain a strong Indian contingent, leaving them with Rs 45 billion in the auction to further strengthen their squad.

In contrast, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took a more selective approach by retaining only three players. Virat Kohli commands the highest retention fee of Rs 21 billion along with Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal. This strategy leaves RCB with the second largest purse at Rs 83 crore.

Punjab Kings surprised many by choosing not to retain any player in the team. The two remaining names, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, indicate a shift in nurturing young talent. The largest purse stood at Rs 110.5 crore.

Rajasthan Royals have consolidated their batting order to a great extent, maintaining a strong squad but looking for an additional opener. The auction was entered with the smallest purse of 41 million rupees.
For Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni is set to participate in the next season of IPL once again after remaining as an unrestricted player for the five-time champions.

CSK’s strategy is likely to focus on maintaining the balance that has driven their past success by blending experienced players with new talent. Besides Dhoni, the players retained include Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana.
