Three found guilty, one acquitted in Kollam blast case

Kollam: The Main Sessions Court, Kollam on Monday convicted three persons in the Kollam Collection blast case. The fourth defendant was acquitted with the decision given eight years after the bomb attack.

While Abbas Ali, Karim Raja and Dawood Sulaiman from Tamil Nadu were convicted in the case, Shamsudeen was released.

The explosion occurred on June 15, 2016. The explosion shook the collection building and injured one person. The court will announce the amount of punishment to be given to the criminals on Tuesday.

Final hearings wrapped up Thursday and Friday, after which the court scheduled an announcement on Nov. 4. Initially, the decision was planned to be announced on October 29.

However, the court postponed the decision by requesting additional clarification regarding the defendant’s statements.

They used an improvised explosive device (IED), which was detonated with the help of a timer device. The IED was placed inside an unused jeep belonging to the labor department parked near Kollam Munsiff Court.
