HADDON TOWNSHIP, New Jersey (WPVI) — An investigation by the Attorney General’s Office is ongoing following a fatal officer-involved shooting in Haddon Township, New Jersey.

Police responded just after 1 a.m. Sunday to a 911 call about a burglary attempt in progress at an apartment complex on West Crystal Lake Boulevard in Westmont, according to authorities.

Police teams arriving at the scene encountered a man with a knife in his hand in the stairwell.

During an interaction in the stairwell, an officer fired his service weapon and attacked the man.

The man was transported to Cooper University Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

A knife was seized at the scene.

The investigation of the incident continues.
