Hoovler congratulates new staff on passing bar exam

Brianna Bloomer, Adrian Broe, Gabrielle Lucas and Justin Ramos have recently been notified that they have passed their New York State Bar exams and are awaiting admission to the New York State Bar as attorneys, according to a press release from Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

Because of New York’s Enforcement Order, they serve as assistant district attorneys handling misdemeanor investigations in local courts while they await bar exam results.

Assistant District Attorney Sarah Sheeler Erickson is awaiting admission to the New York State Bar by “waiving” from New Hampshire, where she prosecutes misdemeanor and felony cases.

“I am proud of the important work done every day by these new assistant district attorneys and my entire staff,” Hoovler said. “Being a prosecutor in New York State has never been more challenging; I am grateful that we can continue to attract talented attorneys who work to achieve fair outcomes for Orange County residents.”

Bloomer, Broe, Lucas, Ramos, and Erickson are currently assigned to the DA’s Early Case Evaluation Bureau; where police officers talk to a prosecutor, who in turn accesses information about the case through computer connections between the district attorney’s office and police departments; The prosecutor has access to police reports and often digital evidence when preparing the necessary legal documents. This allows lawyers to prepare legal documents while ensuring defendants receive the materials to which they are entitled, and sensitive victim and witness information can be identified that may need to be protected in court applications.
