A 10-month-old Ozarks baby was removed from the hospital after investigators said his mother’s boyfriend admitted to “bear hugging” the child

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – A 10-month-old Newton County baby is now out of the hospital after fighting for his life following an incident where investigators say his mother’s boyfriend admitted hugging her.

10 month old Baby Waylon He was able to return home from the hospital last Thursday, but family members say his injuries will have a lasting impact on his life.

“He was basically turned into a newborn baby,” said Waylon’s father, Tyler Burbridge.

The baby remained in critical condition at a hospital in Kansas City for about a month and a half.

In September, investigators said 10-month-old Waylon was placed in a baby onesie by his mother as she walked away to go to the bathroom. Her then-boyfriend, Jordan Boggess, is said to have picked Waylon up and thrown him into the air, but missed with the second throw.

“He actually took my son’s life. He took my son’s future. “You can’t throw a baby in the air,” Waylon’s father said.

Boggess admitted to deputies that she hugged Waylon tightly until he stopped crying. Investigators accuse Boggess of child abuse. But family members say these moments changed Waylon’s life forever.

His father said, “As far as we know right now, he can’t see. He can’t sit. He can barely lift his head. “He’s going to need a lot of physical therapy.”

Here’s Waylon’s mother’s statement:

Family members stand by Waylon and unite in raising awareness about child abuse.

“My son can’t even speak for himself. “Not only me, but my family and everyone who fights for him are his voice.”

Boggess is expected to appear in court at 11 a.m. on December 13 at the Newton County, Missouri Courthouse.
