A major crash on the westbound Sunrise Highway near Oakdale-Bohemia Road brought traffic to a complete halt and caused disruptions on local roads Saturday evening.

The crash resulted in at least one serious injury, according to police.

The accident happened 100 feet from the ramp and across from the Suffolk County Water Authority.

There was a large police presence in the area as authorities launched an investigation into the incident.

The highway closure forced drivers to divert to smaller roads, causing traffic congestion and gridlock in nearby neighborhoods.
