OPP are investigating a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Midland on Saturday that resulted in the death of the lone rider.

According to police, the incident took place on William Street at around 16.30 on Saturday. Simcoe County Paramedics and officers from the South Georgian Bay OPP responded to the scene.

Police said the 37-year-old motorcyclist from Midland was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by doctors at the scene.

William Street was closed in the vicinity of Gloucester Street and Bayview Drive to allow debris to be cleared from the scene. The OPP’s Technical Traffic Investigations unit investigates factors that may have led to the crash, such as speed, helmet use and the condition of the driver.

South Georgia Bay OPP is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage that may assist the investigation.
