Shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, Merit Health River District reported to the emergency department a case of a male with a stab wound to his upper body. Moments later, Vicksburg Police officers responded to Churchill Dr. to respond to a female assault victim lying in the street. and Indiana Ave. was sent to the junction.

VPD said officers determined that both suspects were involved in the same case, which is now being treated as a domestic violence incident.

The male suspect, Daron Evans, 28, of Vicksburg, was taken into custody after leaving the emergency room and charged with aggravated domestic violence assault. He will be held without bail pending his first appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court.

The female subject was transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment. His condition is currently stable.
