Truro City boss John Askey unhappy after 1-1 draw at Slough Town

Truro City manager John Askey was unhappy with the decision which allowed Slough Town to equalize after his side’s 1-1 draw in the National League South.

After a goalless first half, Will Dean replaced Jaze Kabia and opened the scoring in the 65th minute.

Kabia was on the pitch for just two minutes before finishing well from inside the box for his eighth goal of the season.

But Slough equalized 11 minutes later when Slavi Spasov charged in from a corner that Askey felt should never have been awarded.

“We went up one level and I thought we would just watch the game finish and again the referee’s decision inadvertently cost us dearly,” he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

“His boys went for a cross, he put the cross out of play and for some strange reason he gave them a corner and they scored from the corner.

“I know we still have to defend him, but things like this can cost you.

“So actually three points are lost, but I think it will be difficult for teams to come here and make it difficult.”

The draw moves Truro into second place in the table, a point behind Eastbourne Borough with a game in hand.
