Parents Created Whack-a-Mole Costume for Triplet Boys (Special)

Jordan Flom While he and his wife, Rachel, were brainstorming Halloween costume ideas for their 9-month-old triplet sons, Rachel came up with a clever idea: whack-a-mole!

Flom, who also has a daughter with Rachel, tells PEOPLE that once the two agreed on the idea, he started working to make it happen the best he could. After creating a plan, he worked on the design for about five hours.

“POV: When mom trusts you with the triplets’ costume,” the Nashville resident captioned a video of herself making the costume on Instagram.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the father revealed that the costume was made using an extra-large box from Home Depot, as well as fabric and glue from Michaels. inside Instagram videoIt captured him painting the cardboard with red and blue spray paint, then using pieces of foam to turn the box into something resembling an arcade game console, complete with cutouts for the dolls’ heads.

He also added an inflatable hammer attached to the costume with string. Once the costume was complete, he placed the triplets in the cutouts, wearing matching brown beanies.

“The triplets loved it, which surprised us! The little boy thought it was hilarious too because he was controlling the hammer, haha,” the father of five tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Flom’s video went viral after it was posted, collecting more than 430,000 likes and 2,000 comments on Instagram. Many of the comments noted how clever and detailed the father was in creating the costume.

“I wanted an easy costume for people with young children that would allow them to push a wagon around the block and still participate,” Flom says.

One person wrote: “You never cease to amaze me with what you come up with! “.

Another chimed in, “Absolutely loved the trio costume! Must be so much fun planning outfits for three cute little pumpkins. Can’t wait to see more of their Halloween adventures.”

Other people noticed how much the couple’s toddler also enjoyed the costume.

One user captioned the post: “Sister couldn’t wait to try it!” he commented.
