Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said Govardhan Puja is not just a religious event but also a festival of society’s responsibility towards environmental protection, agriculture and animal husbandry. Through Govardhan Puja, the message of respecting animals and maintaining agricultural traditions is also conveyed in rural areas. This inspires the local community to unite and keep their traditions alive. Keeping this in mind, we have decided to celebrate Govardhan Puja on a grand scale this year with the participation of the government across the state.

Yadav said that Govardhan Puja also gives the message of protecting the environment and animal husbandry, which are also important in agricultural and economic terms. In this way, we can convey the importance of nature and animal husbandry to new generations. He said the aim of Govardhan Puja is to make people aware of not only religious but also economic and ecological importance that helps develop a sustainable and skilled rural economy.

Prime Minister Dr. Yadav said that in Indian culture, the cow is given the status of “Gau-Mata”. The cow is worshiped in various religious rituals and festivals. It is deeply linked to religious beliefs in Indian society. For a long time, there has been a tradition of raising cows in every home, and this tradition has strengthened the sense of unity, harmony and cooperation in rural society. To benefit farmers and cattle breeders in Madhya Pradesh, the government is promoting and supporting both private and government cow shelters.

Prime Minister Yadav said that it is stated in the holy books that the cow is as sacred as the Ganges River. The cow is also considered a form of Goddess Lakshmi. Just as Goddess Lakshmi provides happiness and prosperity, so too does Gau-Mata provide wealth in the form of health through her milk. The cow is worshiped and respected among the entire human race. This festival keeps the Indian people connected to their roots and shows their sense of respect for nature. It is also a symbol of the promotion of our culture and tradition.

Prime Minister Dr. Yadav said cow conservation nurtures cultural values ​​in the society and their services increase the sense of compassion, sensitivity and unity in the society. Gau-Mata is also the source of our spiritual and cultural consciousness. The government of Madhya Pradesh is committed to the service, respect and promotion of Gau-Mata. Employment opportunities in rural areas are increasing due to livestock farming. Villagers have always had a source of income by selling their milk and products. India ranks first in the world in milk production, and cows contribute significantly to this success. Milk production in the country is an important part of the economy and also the source of livelihood for millions of rural families.

Madhya Pradesh ranks third in the country in milk production

Yadav said Madhya Pradesh ranks third in the country, producing 9 to 10 per cent of the country’s total milk production. Efforts are being made to make the state a leader in the country by providing facilities for animal husbandry and milk production to farmer brothers in many villages of the state. The state produces 5.5 million liters of milk every day. Madhya Pradesh is ahead of the national average in terms of milk availability per capita. While the daily amount of milk per capita in the country is 459 grams, this figure is 644 grams in Madhya Pradesh. The state aims to double milk production in the next five years. In this direction, studies have been initiated to increase milk production in approximately 40 thousand villages. Now milk production has become a source of employment for thousands of villagers. In this work, women especially play the leading role.
