Christian Horner Fuels VCARB Driver Rumors As He Was Seen Leaving Rival Caravan

Rumors that Williams’ Franco Colapinto could move to VCARB in 2025 were fueled further when Red Bull chief Christian Horner was seen leaving the British team’s caravan after the first practice session in Brazil.

The 21-year-old has made his mark on the F1 paddock after replacing Logan Sargeant at Williams. But with the Grove-based team having previously confirmed Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz for 2025, Colapinto is now aiming to secure a place in one of the two remaining unconfirmed seats at VCARB and Sauber.

Colapinto discussed his options for next year with the media ahead of the race weekend at the Interlagos circuit. HE explained:

“I don’t think I should be the one asked about this.

“Of course I don’t know the answer… I think yes, if Williams can’t give me a race seat, I think the normal thing is for them to let me go somewhere else and find the best opportunity for me for the future.”

“But I’m not the right person to ask. I must be last. I’m here with Williams this weekend and I’ll try to do my best in Brazil; This is a very exciting race, great atmosphere.

“I can’t wait to drive Williams at Interlagos.

“I think it would be great if it happens in the future. I thought I wouldn’t be racing in F1 next year and this is still the first time I’ve seen it, so I’m not too excited about what’s being said around it. But yeah, we’ll see.”

Liam Lawson replaces Daniel Ricciardo at VCARB for the remainder of the season. The team is said to be evaluating both Lawson and teammate Yuki Tsunoda over the next four races to determine who could replace the underperforming Sergio Perez at Red Bull. If this is true, it would open up a spot at VCARB where Colapinto could potentially step in.

Horner when asked about potential interest in Colapinto replied:

“I would be a bad team boss if I didn’t find out if he was available.”
