NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man and his teenage nephew were shot dead and his 10-year-old son was injured when two gunmen opened fire outside their house in Delhi’s Shahdara on Thursday, an official said.

Akash Sharma alias Chottu and his nephew Rishabh Sharma (16) were killed in the incident, while Krish Sharma (10) sustained bullet injuries. The officials added that the victims were celebrating Diwali outside their house in Shahdara’s Farsh Bazar area. They were attacked around 8pm.

“A police team was dispatched after receiving a PCR call around 8.30pm. The team found blood at the scene,” the official said.

Eyewitnesses told police that the attackers touched Akash Sharma’s feet before opening fire.

All the injured were taken to hospital.

Akash Sharma’s son Krish and nephew Rishabh, who were standing nearby, were also hit by bullets.

The officer said that Akash Sharma and Rishabh Sharma were declared dead by doctors at the hospital while Krish Sharma was receiving treatment.

Police said at first glance the incident appeared to be a personal feud.

Statements of family members of the victims will be recorded and further investigation will continue, officials added.
