A Pender County man has been charged with murder in connection with a shooting death early Tuesday.

Deputies responded to a 911 call in the 100 block of Maple Hill School Road at 12:29 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Pender County Sheriff’s Office. When they arrived, they found three people shot.

Two of the injured were transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and one was transported to Novant Health Pender Medical Center. One of the injured died due to his injuries.

Jesse Conroy Watkins, 67, of 1122 Maple Hill School Road, was arrested and charged with one count of murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon. firearm of a convicted felon.
