BUTLER COUNTY, MO. (KFVS) – A woman died after being struck by a car in east Poplar Bluff early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened just before 6 a.m. on Oct. 29, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

MSHP said a car traveling westbound on Highway B ran off the left side of the road, hitting 27-year-old Topanga S. Thompson and then crashing into a tree.

The driver, 43-year-old Chuck A. Bailey, had to be taken to a local hospital.

MSHP reported Bailey’s vehicle was totaled and he was not wearing a seat belt.
