UPDATE: The Iberia County Coroner’s Office has identified the man found shot to death on Lafayette Street last night.

The victim is Lamarcus Daniels, 35, of New Iberia.

As we reported earlier today, New Iberia Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday night.

Officers were called to the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue around 10 p.m. Monday evening.

When they arrived, they found a man with apparent gunshot wounds in the front yard of a home.

It was determined that the man died at the scene.

The spokesman said detectives were called to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
