Smriti Mandhana’s record tonnage ensures India series win over New Zealand

Chasing 233 to win the series, India showed hope but Hannah Rowe dealt India the first blow with a successful review to dismiss Shafali Verma, who was caught behind. Yastika Bhatia joined Mandhana in the middle and the duo put together a strong partnership of 76 runs before Bhatia fell for 35.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also joined the chase and from then on the road towards India went smoothly. The duo showed tremendous quality in turning the batting frequently while accumulating runs and keeping the required run rate under control. The Indian captain scored his 18th ODI fifty during the 117-run partnership.

Mandhana reached her record-breaking eighth ODI century off 121 balls to further highlight her impact in the game, before being dismissed off the next ball she faced.
