In 2016, Donald Trump supporters incessantly chanted “Lock him up!” they shouted. Because Hillary Clinton uses a private email server for classified information. Although the FBI found that he was careless, no charges were brought against him. Now Trump faces accusations of much more serious crimes that pose a much greater threat to national security, but there is silence.

Donald Trump not only mishandled highly classified documents, he also stole boxes of them and haphazardly hid them in an unlocked office, closet, shower, and even a ballroom at Mar-a-Lago. The crime was so serious that criminal charges were filed against him. This is even more concerning given reports that Trump maintained unusually close contact with Russia’s Vladimir Putin after leaving the White House.

To make matters worse, Trump was impeached in connection with the violent attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, in an attempt to keep him in office. Violent mobs broke into the Capitol and chanted “Hang Mike Pence!” and Trump, who tried to harm members of Congress, only watched the event on television.

If Kamala Harris had done any of these things, Trump supporters would be marching in the streets. Instead, they hang “Trump-Vance 2024” signs in their yards when it puts national security at risk. What do they think? It’s time to end this hypocrisy.

For those who care about our democracy and national security, Americans across the country are chanting “Lock Him Up!” from their rooftops. It’s time for him to shout.
