ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police officers are investigating a home break-in where the homeowner told FOX 35 he recorded the entire thing on video. All this time, the accused thieves were unaware that there were cameras in every room.

Suspected thieves were caught on camera taking their time while searching William McKnight’s home in Orlando. McKnight said his 15-year-old nephew was home alone and opened the door without looking at who it was.

“He opens the door, there are two people outside, a man and a woman. When he opens the door, he says, ‘Hello, are your parents at home?’ They say, ‘No, they’re not home.’ They immediately enter the apartment, and he stands back and says, ‘Wow, what’s going on?’ “That’s when they pull the gun,” McKnight explained.

McKnight said one of the suspected robbers can be seen in the video holding a gun. He said his nephew was very scared. All he could do was escort men and women from room to room as they searched for anything they thought was valuable.

“I had a crossbody bag in the living room, and they took it,” McKnight said. “They enter my bedroom and move from one place to another. They go into the drawers and take the watches, bracelets and money they find. They go into the closet and make her take a ladder out of the kitchen. You ask her if there is a safe at home?”

The man and the woman did not see the small network of cameras recording everything everywhere.

“So when the burglars broke in, they didn’t pay attention to the fact that there were cameras all over the house,” McKnight said. “They just walked in and said, ‘We won the jackpot!’ “They thought,” he said.

McKnight contacted Orlando Police, who launched an investigation. He hoped it was only a matter of time before they were caught. He said police were also looking at video from the street that could help catch suspected thieves.

“Someone will recognize these people,” he said. “Not a blurry camera, clear, precise angles and full front views.”
