First day of witness testimony begins in Mustafa Bush murder trial

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – After a week of jury selection, Mustafa Bush’s trial continues with lawyers giving opening statements and six witnesses testifying. Bush He was charged with the December 2022 murder of Kimberly Ann Robinson, 41, of Eyota.

In its opening statement, the prosecution stated that Robinson died at the hands of Bush, who stripped her naked, physically abused her, shot her in the neck, and threw her into a ditch in Cascade Township. Defense lawyers stated that they agreed that Bush and Robinson knew each other and that Robinson had a bullet wound in his neck and body. But lawyers argued that the state must prove that Bush killed Robinson and committed domestic violence.

Among the six witnesses who testified were: the general manager of the Rochester Olive Garden, who was one of Robinson’s supervisors while he was working there at the time, and a Cascade Township resident who saw Robinson’s body while walking his dog on West River Road in Olmsted County. The deputy who initially responded to the resident’s 911 call, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy who supervised the agency’s resources at the scene, a forensic scientist from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and Robinson’s mother.

The statements of the six people were from when Robinson was last seen on December 24, 2022, and his body was found on December 26. Robinson’s mother saw her daughter for the last time at the family’s Christmas Eve party. The parent stated that Robinson had a black eye; This eye had a slight discoloration that was only noticeable when looking at it face to face.
