Perrigo Company recalls baby food sold under the CVS label due to vitamin D levels

Perrigo Company voluntarily recalled 16,500 cans of baby food. According to the Food and Drug AdministrationDue to vitamin D levels being above the maximum allowable levels.

There have been no reports of adverse events attributed to high levels of vitamin D in the recalled product, according to the FDA, as determined through routine testing.

For the vast majority of infants, short-term consumption of the affected product is unlikely to cause adverse health effects. However, according to the FDA, in a small subset of susceptible infants (for example, those with impaired kidney function), consumption of the recalled product has the potential to lead to health complications.
