Fortnite has made a major change to its battle pass system, and it’s literally going to be a game changer.

Fortnite’s modes felt like entirely separate planets, with Battle Royale as the center of the universe. LEGO got the Fortnite battle pass (thanks) Star Wars collaboration for support) and at the Fortnite Festival star pass card more.

Different modes meant different battle passes, with progression locked in each. But that’s all about to change.

As of December 1, Fortnite’s battle pass system will be completely changed unified. Experience earned in every mode, from the Festival to LEGO Fortnite, will count towards every pass you have.

It launches on November 2nd with the new Music Pass, previously known as the Festival Pass. Next up, LEGO Pass joins in on the fun with the Brick or Treat LEGO Pass, just in time for the holiday season.

If that’s not your thing, there’s no need to grind Battle Royale endlessly anymore. You can now accumulate XP and unlock rewards in every mode.

This doesn’t mean that all battle passes are the same in price. “You will need to purchase the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and/or LEGO pass separately to access premium rewards with each pass,” Epic Games explains.

But the team also wanted to make these passes easily accessible with “a way to get all the premium passes at once.” This may mean you can get a discount if you buy all three.

This is good news for everyone. It encourages players to try new modes without feeling like they’re wasting their time. Haven’t touched LEGO Fortnite yet? Now you can do it, if only to grab those sweet rewards without striving for something you’re not interested in. It is an incentive to explore without sacrificing progress.
