LAWRENCE, MASS. (WHDH) – Lawrence police responded to a car crash on South Union Street early Monday morning.

“Upon arrival, officers found a 27-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” police said in a statement. “He was treated at the scene by paramedics and emergency services at Lawrence General Hospital and then transported to that facility by ambulance. He was later transported to a hospital in Boston with what are now believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the incident is not believed to be random, they believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
